Orléans' Thanksgiving Weekend Lives on Two Farm Roads Outside the Suburb

Thanksgiving weekend 2026 runs from Friday, October 9 to Monday, October 12. For Orléans, almost all of it happens at two addresses past the edge of the suburb. One is Robert Plante Greenhouses at 4228 Navan Rd in Navan. The other is Proulx Farm at 1865 O'Toole Rd in Cumberland. The greenhouse covers Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farm is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekend and on Thanksgiving Monday. After dark on Friday and Saturday, the same farm turns into a haunted attraction run by a local service club.

The hours barely overlap, so you can do all three. Done in the right order, you get a full long weekend while only driving to two places.

Friday night to Monday afternoon, by the clock

Here is the full weekend in one table, using each organizer's 2026 schedule.

Day Time Where What
Fri, Oct 9 Gates 7 p.m. Proulx Farm, 1865 O'Toole Rd sKreamers
Sat, Oct 10 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Robert Plante Greenhouses, 4228 Navan Rd 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Market
Sat, Oct 10 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proulx Farm PumpkinFest
Sat, Oct 10 Gates 7 p.m. Proulx Farm sKreamers
Sun, Oct 11 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Robert Plante Greenhouses Thanksgiving Market
Sun, Oct 11 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proulx Farm PumpkinFest
Mon, Oct 12 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proulx Farm PumpkinFest, Thanksgiving Monday

Saturday is the only day all three run. The market opens an hour before the farm. The farm's daytime hours close two hours before sKreamers opens its gates. Monday is the opposite. Only PumpkinFest is open, so it's the easiest day to fit around a family dinner.

Navan Road: a market that added vendors this year

This is the third year Robert Plante Greenhouses has held a Thanksgiving Market, and it is bigger than last year's. The 2026 listing promises more than 200 local vendors and artisans selling handmade crafts, gifts, baked goods and seasonal items. Last year's market ran October 11 and 12, 2025, and listed more than 150 vendors. The greenhouse has already announced its 4th Annual Holiday Market for November 14 and 15, with more than 275 vendors.

Vendor counts that rise from 150-plus to 200-plus in one year, with a separate holiday market listing 275-plus a month later, say the greenhouse now runs a regular market calendar alongside its plant business. For Orléans, that makes Thanksgiving weekend in Navan something you can plan around each year.

Because the market is held indoors, the weather doesn't decide whether you go. The listing calls it a rain-or-shine indoor market with some outdoor food vendors, set among the tropical plants in the greenhouses, with a café on site. If the long weekend turns cold or wet, this is the one stop that won't change. The 2026 listing doesn't mention admission or parking, so check with the greenhouse before you go.

O'Toole Road: one farm, two crowds

Proulx Farm hosts two separate events, and they're aimed at different ages.

PumpkinFest runs Saturdays and Sundays from September 19 to October 31, plus Thanksgiving Monday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Orléans Connect newsletter describes wagon rides, a petting zoo, a corn maze, play structures, tree houses, slides and pick-your-own pumpkins. The farm sells admission by date, and Saturday October 10, Sunday October 11 and Monday October 12 each have their own ticket listing. Each ticket covers one person aged 3 and up. Kids 2 and under get in free without a ticket. On the day, you give staff your order number to check in, with nothing to pick up first. The ticket page shows two different prices for the same ticket, so go by what the checkout says rather than any number you've seen quoted.

sKreamers takes over the same property on Friday and Saturday nights from September 26 to October 31. On Thanksgiving weekend that means October 9 and October 10. The night runs like this:

  • Gates open at 7 p.m.
  • The box office closes at 9 p.m.
  • The last wagon leaves at 9:15 p.m.
  • Doors close at 10 p.m.

Admission is $25 per person and includes one scary wagon ride and one tour through each of the two haunted houses. You can buy tickets online or in person, but door tickets are limited and sold first come, first served. The organizers say it isn't family-friendly and don't recommend it for children under 10.

sKreamers is run by volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of Eastern Ottawa. The club says proceeds go to scholarships, youth programs and support for families in the Orléans and Cumberland area. So the $25 you spend at night on O'Toole Road comes back to the same community you drove out from.

Since both events share an address, an older family can do PumpkinFest in the afternoon, eat dinner somewhere, and come back for sKreamers on the same Saturday. With younger kids, the farm is a daytime trip only.

A Saturday that uses both roads

For a household that wants to fit everything into October 10, the schedules allow this order:

  1. Get to Robert Plante Greenhouses close to the 9 a.m. opening, while the 200-plus vendor tables are freshly stocked and the café is open.
  2. Drive to Proulx Farm for a PumpkinFest ticket time after it opens at 10 a.m. Leave room for the corn maze and the pumpkin patch before the 5 p.m. close.
  3. Take a two-hour break between 5 and 7 p.m. back home.
  4. For anyone 10 and older, head back to O'Toole Road for sKreamers. Arrive well before the 9 p.m. box office cutoff if you don't have tickets yet.

You can also split it across two days, with Navan on Sunday and the farm on Monday, when PumpkinFest is the only one of the three still open.

What stays in town that weekend

Saturday in Orléans has its own options, and they fit the gaps the farms leave.

Fetch Local Markets, a dog-friendly market, is at the Ray Friel Recreation Complex on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If your dog is part of the weekend, this is the stop built for that.

For kids younger than sKreamers allows, the Albert Halloween House at 268 Pintail Terrace is open every night in October from 6:30 to 9 p.m. It raises money for CHEO. Orléans Connect calls it great for young children and notes that jump scares happen only on Saturdays. Since Thanksgiving Saturday is a jump-scare night, families with toddlers may want to go Friday or Sunday.

If you want local produce for your holiday table, the Orléans Farmers' Market at Ray Friel is open Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until October 29, 2026. That makes Thursday, October 8 the market day right before the long weekend.

After Monday, the calendar thins out

The farm roads stay busy after Thanksgiving, just less often. Robert Plante Greenhouses has a Fall Garden Preparation seminar on October 17 and a Fall Tree Watercolour Workshop on October 24. PumpkinFest and sKreamers both run through October 31. After that, nothing major happens on Navan Road until the Holiday Market on November 14 and 15, when the vendor count goes past 275.

The two farm roads have become a regular part of fall in Orléans, and the stretch south and east of the suburb, toward Navan and Cumberland, is where a lot of people from Orléans spend their weekends. If you've been thinking about a home closer to those roads, or with a bit more land, Steve Brunet knows the rural and acreage properties east of Ottawa. He can explain clearly what living near Navan Road or O'Toole Road would mean day to day. Let's Connect.
